Snow Patrol's Eyes Open is a nice and slow love song album. Well, that is... nice and slow from a rock version. Just like love songs, the songs in this album talk about the bittersweet taste of love. Overall, this album is nice. But just a plain and ordinary nice. Nothing special in terms of music and lyrics. An exception goes for the song "Chasing Cars". There's a little of Coldplay sound in this song. Has the same mode as Coldplay's "Fix It" or "Yellow"- how it beats up from quiet then goes quiet again. Pretty. The lyric is pretty too. While the title is unique. This is my favourite number in the record. Gives me a picture from a scene in the film Before Sunrise, when Celine and Jesse lying on the grass in a park gazing at stars with "cars" in their head. A beautiful song for two lovers in a beautiful summer evening forgetting their burden. Hoping they feel the same way for each other. Feeling like they could live in those moments forever: "If I lay here, if I just lay here. Would you lie with me, and just forget the world. Forget what we're told, before we get too old. Show me a garden that's bursting into life". Without question an amazing song!We'll do it all, everything, on our own.
